1977 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser with Chevy V8

In 2004, this Cruiser was rebuilt with the original drive train. In 2005, the motor and transmission were upgraded and power steering was added in order to make it more of a daily driver. This year, 2013, the front end was disassembled and the motor pulled to fix the rear main seal as the Cruiser was not driven very frequently over the last few years. 


  • All new metal (fenders, rocker panels, quarter panels, rear channel and seal)

  • 4” Lift springs with Brand New Rancho RS9000XL 9 position adjustable shocks

  • Front shackle reversal system installed

  • Rear leveling heavy duty grease-able shackler in back due to reversal in front

  • Front disc brakes, rear drum brakes, and stock emergency brake (all new brakes 500 miles ago)

  • 16” Panther chromed aluminum wheels

  • LT 315/75 R16 Dick Cepek F-CII Tires (500 miles on)

  • Stock powder coated spare tire holder

  • Stock rear hard top wing windows in the back


  • X-Liner bed liner on whole interior tub floor and the inner and outer firewall

  • Stock front bucket seats with headrests (completely re-upholstered)

  • Stock rear jump seats (re-upholstered)

  • 350 Chevy V8 4 Bolt Main with 700R4 Overdrive Automatic Transmission (Only 8,000 miles on this drive train)

  • Bored .30 over

  • Top Proline Vortec Heads

  • Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap Intake

  • Comp Cam - mid range lift

  • Holly Street Avenger 670 Carburetor

  • New Fuel Filter, Fuel Liner, Fuel Pump, etc.

  • New rear main seal

  • Custom Power Steering system with firewall grease-able steering support bearing

This transmission has the lowest gear ratio and highest overdrive ratio out of all the Chevy automatic transmissions.
